Hoodia gordonii is a succulent plant found in the Kalahari Desert that literally takes your appetite away. Although there are over 20 species in the Hoodia family only the Hoodia gordonii plant contains a natural appetite suppressant. For hundreds of years the San African tribesmen have eaten it to suppress their appetite on long hunting & gathering trips. The bushmen who live around the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa used to cut off a stem of the plant about the size of a cucumber and chew on it over a couple of days.
